Gluten-Free Bakeries That Deliver
Sweet treats for you & your loved ones in the US, UK, & Canada
I hope my American readers had a terrific Thanksgiving, and that all of my readers had a great week. It’s December, and that means holiday season is on our doorstep! New York sidewalks are already clogged with fir trees and inflatable Santas, even if there’s no sign of snow (yet). It’s not exactly a winter wonderland, but the calendar is making me mindful of how few shopping days are left before Christmas.
One of my favorite things to send gluten-free family and friends? Baked goods are always high on the list. I love the fact that there are so many excellent, dedicated gluten-free bakeries in business these days. Here are a few I recommend, whether you’d like some treats for yourself, your loved ones, or both!
In the United States
Almotti Gluten Free Italian Delicacies: Almotti is a dedicated gluten-free bakery founded by pastry chef Carlo Raciti — a third-generation Sicilian baker — and his wife Rebecca Bechara. Based in Miami, Florida, Almotti specializes in Southern Italian handcrafted gourmet delicacies: think filoncino, pane rustico, and focaccia on the savory side, and tiramisu, torta di mandorla, and torta di mela on the sweet side. Nationwide shipping is available.
Erin McKenna’s Bakery: My nieces adore this place, and for good reason — not only is the bakery gluten-free, it’s also nut-free (except for coconut), dairy-free, egg-free, and soy-free. That sounds like a lot of ingredients to do without, but the resulting cakes, cupcakes, donuts, and other goods are simply incredible. The original outpost opened in New York City’s Lower East Side in 2005, and has since expanded to include locations in California and Florida. Three of the four locations are certified kosher (the Santa Monica location is not). Erin McKenna’s delivers nationwide.
