Apparently I shocked some people a couple of weeks back when I revealed that I went to Las Vegas and… wait for it… didn’t gamble. (Cue the gasps.) “What else is there to do there?” one person asked in a DM. Well, eat, obviously! I did a lot of that. And go to shows. Because in Vegas, nightlife is everything.

Truth be told, the very first thing I booked — after my flight — were tickets for the Dita Von Teese show. The Queen of Burlesque currently has a residency at the Voltaire theater inside the Venetian Casino. (A “residency” is an ongoing show; some run for months, some for years.) It was a fantastic evening, with reprises of a few of Von Teese’s most famous routines, including the mechanical-bull rodeo ride and the splish-splash champagne-glass bath. Even the cocktails were intensely glamorous. It was spectacular in every sense, as was every Cirque du Soleil show I saw (“O” at the Bellagio never gets old).
